The search continues for three men who dove off a waterfall in California and did not resurface. Shortly before 3:00 p.m. on June 18th, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Rattlesnake Falls in Soda Springs following reports that three individuals had entered the water and did not resurface.

Authorities made contact with the three other individuals who were part of the hiking group, and based on the information they provided, it was determined that six men were hiking in the area when three of them jumped into the water. Due to the area’s challenging terrain, located several miles in on a steep and difficult hiking trail, CHP’s helicopter was used to evacuate the three remaining hikers on Wednesday evening.

Multiple departments have joined in the search, including the Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, Search and Rescue units, CAL FIRE’s Technical Rescue Team, and CHP’s helicopter. The terrain is extremely remote and difficult to access, making rescue efforts especially challenging. Efforts to find the missing men are ongoing.

  1. They did not “dive” off the waterfall! One was in a pool of water and was swept away. The other two jumped in and attempted to save him. I knew 2 of the 3 personally.
