Elliot Lake, Ontario — A hungry and intoxicated man is now facing criminal charges for breaking into a non-profit ski area’s base lodge.
CTV News reports that a man was arrested for allegedly breaking into the base lodge at Mount Dufour Ski Area. On May 24th, a thirty-six-year-old man, who was intoxicated, decided to make a late-night trip to the ski area. At around 1:30 a.m., an alarm bell went off following the individual breaking into the lodge by smashing a window. After the alarm system detected movement in the kitchen, authorities (Ontario Provincial Police) caught the invader chewing on some snacks at the lodge’s dining outlet. Nothing like the munchies at 1:30 in the morning.

He’s being charged with intentionally breaking and entering a building to engage in an indictable offense. His day in court is scheduled for July 10th. I imagine it’ll be a sober affair.
Operated by a non-profit, Mt. Dufour has become a community staple. The ski area features seven trails, two lifts (including a quad chairlift), and a vertical drop of 320 feet. The aforementioned base lodge is home to a food outlet, a bar, lockers, and a rental shop.
