This past weekend marked the last for Arizona Snowbowl‘s longest season in history, with 200 inches of snow falling throughout their entire winter. Fortunately last week also saw the opening of Beartooth Basin, the only summer-only ski area in the United States. With one closure and one opening, the United States and North America as a whole continues to sit at 4 open ski areas (not counting the only indoor ski area in the U.S., Big Snow American Dream). These are the final 4.

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado – Tentative closing date June 8th.

The last open ski area in Colorado currently has a tentative closing date of June 8th, but the season could be extended if conditions allow. After this past weekend, Arapahoe Basin is closed Monday-Thursday and will reopen on June 6th, 7th, and 8th. Their snow base currently sits at 41 inches. Next weekend is sure to be full of pond skimming now that Lake Reveal has begun to show.

Beartooth Basin, Wyoming – Closing date July 6th.

Beartooth Basin opened last week to kick off their summer months on snow. The Wyoming ski area, located along Beartooth Highway, offers 600 acres of summer skiing and snowboarding varying in pitch from 15 to 50 degrees. A full lift ticket costs just $50, though daily tickets sales are limited to a maximum of 100 guests per day. Right now the mountain plans to keep things going until July 6th, but it depends on weather and conditions.

Mammoth Mountain, California – Closing date June 15th.

Mammoth Mountain is the last open ski resort in California, and that’s set to continue until June 15th. Operations will continue daily until then with lifts spinning from 7:30am-1pm. Broadway Express, Stump Alley Express, Face Lift Express, and Chair 23 are all still open and the skiing/snowboarding is still looking good with a snow base depth of 39 inches.

Timberline Lodge, Oregon – Open into the summer.

Timberline Lodge will keep the skiing and snowboarding going deep into the summer on the Palmer Snowfield, with both private and public lanes available for training and general shredding throughout the hotter months of the year. while and exact closing date for the Palmer Snowfield is still unclear, it’s quite possible that it will remain open through August and potentially into September.
