The mountains of Colorado look like they’re in for yet another round of snow, this time bringing some potentially massive snow totals to the Front Range mountains between Monday and Thursday of this week.
Specifically from Tuesday morning through late Tuesday night, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Rocky Mountain National Park, the Medicine Bow Range, the mountains of Summit County, the Mosquito Range, and the Indian Peaks. Throughout the storm total snow accumulations could reach between 12 and 22 inches, with the highest totals falling on the crest and eastern slopes of the Front Range.

The NWS Expected Snowfall forecast puts between 6-12 inches of snow falling in Nederland between Monday and Thursday, 4-8 inches falling in Fairplay, an 10-17 inches falling around Eisenhower Tunnel. Vail, Granby, Aspen, and other more western areas are looking at very little light snowfall throughout the storm.
The High End Amount Forecast, representing a 1 in 10 chance of higher snowfall, has up to 15 inches falling in Nederland, 10 inches falling in Fairplay, and 19 inches falling near Eisenhower Tunnel. Aspen and Granby could see up to 1 inch of new snow while Vail could see up to 2 inches.

Travel along I-70 east of Eisenhower Tunnel, the Peak to Peak Highway, US40 and Berthoud Pass area, and Highway 14 over and east of Cameron Pass could be very difficult, potentially impacting Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening commutes. Some slush/snow can be expected on the higher passes throughout Monday afternoon and Monday night.
