Montana/Idaho — Back in late March, Lookout Pass made an early April Fool’s Joke, announcing that they would offer summer skiing. It’s been a deep season there, so it definitely tricked some people (including myself). Although it’s not quite a summer season extension, Lookout Pass still has more skiing to offer this season.

The original plan for the 2024-25 season was for Lookout Pass to close on April 20th. However, the cross-border ski resort has received 451 inches of snow so far this season, and received 8-11 inches over the past 48 hours. In response to their reliable snow depths, Lookout Pass has decided to open for one final weekend. While it’s currently closed for the next few days, Lookout Pass plans to reopen on Saturday and Sunday with 42 trails and 3 lifts. They also said that they’re considering doing some May skiing.

For Lookout Pass, they eventually have to get ready for bike season, so they need to prepare those trails. This means that they won’t be open too late in May, as their crew begins to help operate the Route of the Hiawatha bike trail beginning on May 23rd.
