Montana/Idaho — Is March 31st too early to do an April Fool’s Day joke? An announcement by Lookout Pass has people debating the subject.

Today, Lookout Pass announced that they plan on staying open until the summer. At face value, it seems legit, as they’ve received over 400 inches of snow, and more ski resorts have been trying to extend their seasons as long as possible.

When you open the link, you’re greeted with the following statement:

“ EARLY APRIL FOOLS!!! No summer skiing this year :/

BUT YOU DO GET A FREE LIFT TICKET FOR APRIL FOOLS DAY (not a joke)

We are still open 7 days a week + we’ll be open until April 20th (also not a joke)

Click the link below. Screenshot or print it out. Then present it at our ticket office for 1 free lift ticket; Good for April 1st, 2025.

It’s debatable whether they should have announced the free lift ticket deal today, or just wait for tomorrow. Doing it now gives people a chance to prepare to go skiing there, which may be more convenient for some than posting it first thing tomorrow morning.

Ultimately, it does get people mentally prepared for April Fool’s Day, meaning that you shouldn’t believe everything you see on social media in the next day or so. I’m not gonna lie: I definitely got fooled by their social media post.
