Parts of Colorado are currently experiencing some serious snowfall, with the storm expected to continue in some areas through Sunday morning. Records haven’t been broken yet, but a few open ski areas have already seen nearly a foot of new snow over the past 24 hours.
At Loveland Ski Area, 11 inches of snow have fallen in the past 24 hours, while the mountain’s snow stake live camera shows nearly 18 inches of new snow. Their 48 hour snowfall total is at a foot, while their season total sits at 295 inches. The mountain’s 5am report had just 3 inches falling in the past 24 hours, meaning around 8 inches of new snow fell between 5am and 8am, when the second report of the morning was released.
Arapahoe Basin has a lower snowfall from the storm so far with just 7 inches falling over the past 24 hours and 8 inches in the past 48 hours. 9 of 9 lifts are currently open on the mountain with 103 of 147 trails. The ski area’s live cameras show a heap of snow coming down at the current moment, so while today started with some serious new snowfall, it seems likely that tomorrow will be even better.
A bit further away, Winter Park has seen 6 inches of new snow over the past 24 hours as of last update, the only snow they’ve seen in the last 3 days. Their season total currently sits at 348 inches, but one look at the live cams shows that number is going up. The Winter Park snow stake, cleared every day at 4pm, currently sits right around 8 inches and the snow doesn’t look like it’s planning to stop.
The overnight snowfall isn’t looking quite as good further west, with Copper Mountain recording just 3 inches in the past 24 hours as of last update. However much like Winter Park, live cameras are showing the snow coming down fairly heavy, meaning Saturday could be a darn good one.
