Off The Edge
Off The Edge

Incredible peek into the long forgotten and highly niche ski culture of 1970s hang glide skiing.

Off The Edge debuted in 1976 and was nominated for an Academy Award. The film follows two buddies, Jeff Campbell and Blair Trenholme, who backcountry ski tour and fly around the some of the highest peaks of the Southern Alps in New Zealand in jeans and sweaters.

Producing this film in modern times would logistical feat but doing so in mid-1970s was nothing short of a miracle. Not sure what type of camera they strapped to the airframe to get some of these flying shots but you can imagine it would have been a tad bit bigger than a GoPro.

If you have seen and loved all the old Warren Miller films and are looking for something new, we highly recommend adding this incredible film to your queue. Enjoy.
