At an age when most kids are more concerned with securing maximum screen time while balancing their junior high course load, this boy from Silverton, Colorado has been steadily racking up vertical feet in the backcountry. According to the Durango Herald, 13-year-old Griff Pinto has climbed over 1 million vertical feet in his young career and he isn’t slowing down.

Griff spends over 100 days a season climbing and skiing the backcountry of the San Juans and is featured in an upcoming film project titled “The Kids Are Alright” alongside his buddy 11-year-old Hagen Strokes.

Under the watchful eye of his dad who is a longtime volunteer with the San Juan County’s intrepid Silverton Medical Rescue Team and his mom, Griff ventures into the backcountry on a nearly daily basis and is quickly becoming a seasoned veteran.

Despite not owning a phone, Griff’s social media following on Instagram is incredible where his parents posts helmet-cam videos of his descents. Check out the trailer to The Kids Are Alright and we will be sure to post he video in full when it is released.
