Beaver, Utah — After a year full of devastation, it’s nice to see snow at Eagle Point again.
The central Utah ski resort saw significant damage from a wildfire, and then its access road was swamped with mudslides and flooding. Since then, crews have been rebuilding the resort.
Yesterday, Eagle Point Resort owner Shane Gadbaw shared an update on the recovery efforts. They are planning a renovation of the Skyline Lodge, which was spared from the fire. Lift repairs are also underway, and they also mentioned they’re looking at new lifts and relocations. More on that in a second.
Ultimately, it sounds like Eagle Point will have a quiet winter, as they don’t plan on operating for the 2026-27 season. This is partially due to the damage to State Route 153, which saw mudslides and flooding. The only road up now is rural and hard to access in winter. Add in the needed repairs across the resort, and it was the right decision to aim for a late 2027 reopening.
Powder Haven To The Rescue?
Meanwhile, a Utah ski resort could be playing a part in helping with Eagle Point’s revival.
At this point, it seems likely that a few of Eagle Point’s lifts could be done for. These include Canyonside Lift and Tushar Peaks surface lift. Meanwhile, a few lifts, Skyline Lift and Lookout Lift, are in need of various repairs. Help could be on the way.
In Ski Utah’s Last Chair podcast, Shane Gadbaw said that various ski resorts have offered help, with one even offering a used chairlift to them. That mountain turned out to be Powder Haven (the private part of Powder Mountain). On The Storm Skiing Journal & Podcast, Powder Mountain’s CEO confirmed that they have offered the Mary’s chairlift to them. Installed in 2016, the fixed-grip quad chairlift is set to be replaced by a high-speed quad in 2027. It should be noted that this is likely not a done deal.
We don’t know what Eagle Point will look like lift-wise in the years to come, but they do aim to reopen in November 2027.
