The Swatch Nines is actively going on in Schilthorn right now, bringing some of the most creative minds and talented freestyle skiers & snowboarders together for a week of big-air insanity. We’ll see some gnarly clips throughout the whole week, like when Australian snowboarder Valentino Guseli sent the biggest snowboard air in the history of man last year, but most of the best highlights won’t come until it’s all over.
Fortunately through the powder of social media we can a fair bit of what’s already going on, including professional skier Birk Ruud‘s newest clip where he knocks what appears to be an action camera on a long pole out of the air in the middle of a pretty wild air. Based on the camera man’s reaction, Ruud was probably alright after hitting the camera, though I’m sure it couldn’t have been the most comfortable experience.
It’s not clear if this was accidental or on purpose. Obviously the camera needs to be held high to get the perfect angle, but it really seems like it was directly in his path. Either way, it’s a pretty gnarly clip.
Swatch Nines runs until April 12. While the general public won’t be able to attend the event throughout most of the week, a public day will be hosted on Saturday to close out the event. Otherwise we’ll be sure to post highlights as they come out!
