An accident at Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine led to the death of an individual around 9am on Saturday, April 5.

Very little information on the accident is available at this time, with the resort confirming the death but ultimately holding off on releasing more details. WMTW reports that Sugarloaf is in the process of collecting details surrounding the incident.

“Out of respect and privacy for the family we are unable to share any additional details but express our deepest sympathy to the family for their loss.” – Sugarloaf Mountain

It’s not clear yet if the individual was a skier, snowboarder, or otherwise, with WMTW reporting it as a skier and the Portland Press Herald reporting it as a snowboarder.

Our thoughts go out to the friends and family of the deceased at this time.
