Bartlett, New Hampshire — Vail Resorts receives a lot of flak (and it’s sometimes deserved), but they’ve done some great things for one New Hampshire ski resort.

This includes a new quad chairlift for their beginner area in 2021, replacing the Summit Triple with a high-speed quad, the return of the Hunky Dory trail, and various snowmaking projects. The one downside of the new ownership has been the elimination of summer attractions, which were once a big part of Attitash’s operation. However, the resort made more positive changes for the ski experience this offseason.

This week, Attitash Mountain Resort detailed the additions for the 2026-27 season. The first change is one we already knew about: improvements to the snowmaking additions. 50 new snowmaking guns are being added, snowmaking on the Saco trail has been improved thanks to new pipes, and the pumphouse is being upgraded.

The second is the return of skiing’s most important culinary institution. The Waffle Cabin is back at Attitash, with its iconic small building situated at the Attitash base area. Arguably, this is Attitash’s most important addition of the 2020s.

In terms of the skiing experience, there will be a new glade at Attitash this winter. Located between the Far Out and Inside Out trails, this beginner glade will be a mellow first taste of glade skiing.

Also noteworthy is a leadership change at Attitash. Former GM Brandon Swartz moved on to Smugglers’ Notch to become their GM. The new VP and GM of Attitash and Wildcat is Deirdre Riley, who has prior experience of working at Attitash.

Attitash’s opening date has yet to be announced, but they tend to open in early December.
