LEITNER ConnX.
LEITNER ConnX.

INTERALPIN, the world’s leading international trade fair for alpine technologies, is set to go down in Innsbruck in just a few weeks, hosted between May 6 and May 9. Big names like TechnoAlpin, Doppelmayr, and Leitner Ropeways will all be there, with Leitner showing off the incredible ConnX transportation system.

The ConnX system is a play on the existing ropeway system. The cabin can disconnect from ropeway, being transferred to an autonomous vehicle in the station before traveling on its own route.

The technology is seriously impressive, making ropeway transportation in a diverse urban environment easier. In areas where continuous ropeways can’t exist, whether it’s due to buildings, monuments, or other obstacles, the ConnX acts as an innovative alternative.

It’s not hard to imagine how this technology could impact ski resorts, with a possibility for gondola cabins to take you from your hotel to the base area before connecting to the cable and heading up the mountain. Plus at the end of the day you wouldn’t have to worry about getting home after some intense après skiing, the gondola could just take you the whole way.

Leitner’s autonomous ropeway operation, the LeitPilot, and the 3S Symphony cabin and our in-house developed 2S system will all be on display at INTERALPIN.
