Big horn sheep airlifted in Idaho.
Big horn sheep airlifted in Idaho.

Ever seen a helicopter pilot pickup 6 bighorn sheep in one go? No? Well you have now.

Based on Jim Pope‘s profile, this goat re-locating work appears to have been done along the Salmon River in Idaho. Idaho Fish and Game began aerial surveys and capture work throughout the Clearwater Region in December, including big horn sheep capturing in Game Management Units 11, 13 (bounded by the Salmon River on the east and north), and 18.

Both the aerial surveys and capture work are done to gather abundance and herd composition information to assist game managers in understanding population numbers and trends. The capturing allows managers to collar big game animals, helping them to get a better idea of herd survival and movements once the animals are released.
