Much is made of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s legendary ski run Corbet’s Couloir, but there is another trail that even more challenging which goes almost unridden because entering it requires either a mandatory air or a unruly wallride down a near vertical rock face.
We are talking about the S&S Couloir which is universally recognized one of gnarliest ski runs in North America. S&S gets it’s name from Charlie Sands and John Simms, the first two ski patrollers successfully make the descent. It is steep, it is unforgiving, it is not for your average skier.
Skier Henry Allen recently conquered his fear and stepped up to S&S to make his quota of “doing one thing everyday that scares you.” Allen chose the wallride option and pulled it off to perfection. As far as inbounds terrain difficulty goes, this is the pinnacle.
