The Garnet, Ruby, Sapphire, and Diamond Bowls on Blackcomb Mountain at Whistler Blackcomb offer some seriously incredible expert-only terrain with hairy cliffs, chutes, and other wild features. To access these bowls, skiers and snowboarders travel through Spanky’s Ladder, a choke point that, in extreme cases, can create quite a terrifying crowd.
Apparently some skiers and snowboarders decided they were too good to wait in line on a busy day, riding ahead and forging their own path. Usually if someone is moving too slow for you on the uphill, you should have every right to pass them. But this seems like a slightly more complicated situation.
What do you think? Are these guys in the right to be ripping by the line if they can get up faster than the people ahead of them? Or is this a collapse of structure?
