Bothers race down steep couloir
Bothers race down steep couloir

When it comes to sibling rivalry, the Weber brothers know how to settle scores. Jakob and Matthias wanted to see who was the faster brother and they choice of venue is not for the faint of heart.

The Southtyrolean multi-sport brothers ventured into their backyards and picked “The Highway To Hell” to determine who was faster. This ultra steep, super narrow couloir chokes down to a 1 meter in width and has a maximum slope angle of 60°.

The pair were joined by their good buddy Italian alpinist Jonathan Stoffner who officiated the proceedings. To get to the starting point, the trio deployed paragliding canopies and soared to the location, avoiding a tricky section through woods, which Matthias calls “the ultimate life hack.” With legs fresh after an aerial approach, the boys performed a quick warm up run that doubled as a stability check and were satisfied with the conditions for their epic matchup.

You will have to watch to see who ended up being the faster brother but they are both winners in our book. Cheers!

About the Weger Brothers:

Growing up in Schenna, South Tyrol, Jakob and Matthias Weger found kayaking expeditions more thrilling than family hiking trips. Dissatisfied with the limitations of professional kayaking, they left the national teams after Matthias won three European Extreme Kayak titles and Jakob became U23 World Champion in Olympic slalom.

Now, they’re often in the Dolomites and globally, engaging in skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, biking, climbing, and kayaking. Their content creation skills have won them the GoPro Million Dollar Challenge four times and helped them build a social media community of over 900,000 followers, sharing their adventures.

About Jakob:

Jakob Weger, born in 1998 in Schenna, Italy, is a multisport athlete excelling in kayaking, snowboarding, and paragliding. Transitioning from a U23 World Champion kayaker, he now focuses on snowboard freeriding and paragliding.

His motto, “Almost everything is possible when you find the right motivation,” reflects his adventurous spirit. Jakob collaborates with his brother on mountain films like “Alpine Worlds.” Known for being passionate, calm, and goal-oriented, he appreciates social media for connecting with others and sharing his adventures. He deeply values his South Tyrolean roots, local outdoor activities, and his relationships with friends and family.

About Matthias:

Matthias Weger, born in 1996 in Schenna, Italy, is a passionate extreme kayaker and outdoor enthusiast. From childhood, he engaged in skiing, mountaineering, and paragliding. Along with his brother Jakob, he has produced notable mountain films like “22 HØURS – Arctic Dreamlines,” screened in over 100 cinemas.

Living in South Tyrol, he enjoys the pristine natural scenery, local food, and the freedom to blend high-energy sports with filmmaking.
