A clip from an indoor climbing expo featuring Slovenian Olympic rock climber Janja Garnbre has gone viral after a crowd member came away with unexpected hug.
The two-time Olympic gold medalist was performing a dynamic move on a slab feature at a Chinese climbing gym when she missed a hold and her momentum took her towards the audience. A man standing next to the mats reached out to brace her fall and ended up in an impromptu embrace.
The man was both overjoyed and visibly embarrassed by the accidental intimate moment and took off running to escape the cheering crowd. Blush much?
While Janja Garnbre viral mishap has been making the rounds on social media, many missed a much more substantial story about the 27-year-old champion climber.
On June 8th, 2026 Garnbret announced she successfully climbed Bibliographie (9b+) in Céüse, France and became the 6th person and first woman to send what is widely considered one of the world’s most difficult climbing routes. Cheers to Garnbre for this monumental accomplishment:
