With speed skiers reaching velocities exceeding 150mph, there is certainly enough energy to create an audible woosh as they pass by and some associated wind turbulence but probably not enough to strip away a snowsuit from an unsuspecting skier.
Slovakian speed skier Michal Bekes was tapped to star in this spring skiing promotional video for his home resort of Tatranská Lomnica Ski Resort located at Mt. Lomnický štít in the High Tatras mountains and he aced it.
Michal has reached a top speed of 154.44 mph in his competition career and while we didn’t get to see a read out from the radar gun, he certainly looks to have been cooking.
