Jay, Maine — Tonight, the Maine Cabin Masters will be hitting the slopes.
Tonight, the Maine Cabin Masters episode regarding their renovation of Spruce Mountain’s base lodge will air for the first time. It will premiere tonight (March 10th) at 9 p.m. on the Magnolia Network.
Last summer, Spruce Mountain launched a GoFundMe to renovate its base lodge. The mountain crew was able to get in contact with the Maine Cabin Masters. Ron Jacques, who’s the President of Spruce Mountain, ended up running into Chase Morrill, the leader of the Cabin Masters, at Sugarloaf. Ron discussed the Spruce Mountain project with Chase, leading them to film an episode there.
Over the years, the Maine Cabin Masters, also known as the Kennebec Cabin Company, have renovated various historic homes across the state of Maine. This has resulted in a popular tv show, along with a must-visit shop in Manchester, Maine. The work they did to Spruce Mountain’s lodge included repairs to the windows and walls, sprucing up the kitchen, and making the second floor into a usable space.
Filming of the episode commenced in August, and work on the lodge continued through the fall and early winter. The Maine Cabin Masters crew held a grand opening on December 13th for the community to see the transformation. After getting a certificate of occupancy approval for the lodge from the State of Maine, the ski area opened for the season on January 25th.
This summer, the next phase of the lodge renovation will occur. This phase will include updating the second floor, with them adding more seating space with superb views, along with a new sprinkler system for upstairs. Click here to support Spruce Mountain’s base lodge renovation campaign.
First opened in 1959, Spruce Mountain has been the local ski hill for various communities. The ski area is jointly owned by the towns of Jay, Livermore, and Livermore Falls. Spruce has 11 trails and three lifts, all of which are rope tows. While the 300-foot vertical drop is small, it’s a great learning hill for locals and an excellent spot for those who want to get some night skiing in.
