It’s Friday, which means all of us weekend warriors are trying to figure out which mountain to hit this weekend. Usually we’ll go somewhere local, but if you’re planning to travel to wherever has the deepest snowpack, these are the top 5 deepest snowpacks at ski resorts across North America, according to resort websites (as of February 28).
(As a note, every ski resort measures their snowpack differently. Some measure at the summit, some measure mid-mountain. This list is based on the highest number presented by each resort, but we’ll provide each number that they provide.)
5. Alyeska Resort, AK
140 inches at the top, 76 inches in the middle, 6 inches at the base.
4. Mt. Baker Ski Area, WA
147 inches at Pan Dome, 127 inches at Heather Meadows.
3. Mammoth Mountain, CA
152 inches at the summit, 100 inches at McCoy Station, 97 inches at the main lodge.
2. Mount Washington Alpine Resort, BC
155.5 inches at 4,882 feet, 81 inches at 3,609 feet.
