We all love hunting down POW. Most of the time you just have to hope your local resort will get hammered, but sometimes you get the itch to book a weekend trip to the best place for proper powder. So if you’re trying to figure out where to head this weekend, your best chance would probably be grabbing a flight to California.
Mammoth Mountain in California saw a massive 20 inches of new snowfall last night, making for 32 inches in the recent storm. It’s not snowing much today, but there will likely be plenty of powder to find throughout the weekend with the enormous amount of snow that’s fallen over the past few days.
Mount Rose Ski Tahoe, meanwhile, has seen 18-20 inches of new snow in the recent storm, and Palisades Tahoe has seen 14 inches in the past 24 hours with snow continuing throughout Friday. Sierra-at-Tahoe has seen 12 inches of snow in the past 24 hours, but the storm is continuing to bring snow to the mountain throughout the day today. Of course much of this snow could be skied off today, but some fresh stuff will probably still be around Saturday and Sunday.
In Wyoming, Grand Targhee could see up to 6 inches of new snowfall throughout the day today, with another 5 inches forecasted for Saturday. Jackson Hole in Wyoming saw six inches of snow last night, and it’s continued to snow today. It’s not clear how much they’re expecting, but it’s might keep going both Saturday and Sunday.
It’s snowing pretty heavy in Utah as well, with Solitude seeing around 5 inches of new snow on their snow stake as of ~1:00pm on February 7. All of the Cottonwood Canyon ski resorts are expected to see around 4-8 inches throughout the day, though not much more is expected throughout the weekend.
Several Colorado resorts could also see some snow this weekend, with solid accumulation possible throughout the next week, and good chunks of New England are likely to see more serious snowfall later in the weekend.
