Powder at Ski Santa Fe.
Powder at Ski Santa Fe.

Much of the western United States have felt a bit dry over the last week (though there might be some solid snowfall in the forecast…). But while most of us were struggling with the concept of no new snow in a while, a few resorts in New Mexico were enjoying a couple of days of solid snowfall, leaving them with over a foot of powder in just 48 hours.

At Taos, 14 inches of fresh snowfall brought their base depth up to 35 inches. 12 of 13 lifts are currently spinning at the resort, with 70 of 120 trails open to skiers and snowboarders heading into the weekend. For those who prefer groomers (for some reason), 26 of 120 trails were groomed today.

Further south, Sipapu Ski Resort saw 20 inches of fresh snowfall over the past 48 hours, bringing their season total to 72 inches and their base depth up to 24 inches. Following the recent snowfall, Sipapu now has four of six chairlifts open and 20 of 44 trails open.

The deepest of the past few days goes to Ski Santa Fe, where 21 inches of snowfall have brought their season total up to 84 inches and their base up to 34 inches. Ski Santa Fe now has six of seven chairlifts open, with 82 of 90 runs open to skiers and snowboarders. Plus 28 groomed runs should be plenty for those who prefer less chop under their feet.
