Frozen waterfall collapse in China

A large group of tourists in China who disregarded warning signs and ventured off designated viewing platforms at Heishancha Waterfall are lucky to be alive after large section of the frozen waterfall collapsed to the valley below.

A recent warming spell had weakened the ice structure prompting area staff to cordon off the area below the waterfall. As evidenced by a video of the incident, many tourists decided to approach the dangerous area despite the warning. Thankfully there were no fatalities and the only injury reported was to a female tourist who suffered a broken pelvis after slipping on the ice during her escape.

Local authorities have further cordoned off the area with warning tape and assigned staff for 24 hour safety monitoring.
