Three state parks in Colorado will see a $2 fee increase starting on January 1, 2025. According to Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Chatfield, Golden Gate Canyon and State Forest state parks will now cost $12 to enter.
The $2 fee increase for Chatfield State Park will go towards water quality projects in and upstream of the reservoir through the Chatfield Watershed Authority, primarily focusing on a reduction in the amount of phosphorus and chlorophyll in the water.
The fee increase for both Golden Gate Canyon State Park and State Forest State Park will go towards road maintenance of county roads related to access points in and out of both parks in Gilpin and Jackson counties. This is as a result of SB23-059, while the Chatfield increase is a result of SB23-267.
The Keep Colorado Wild Pass, which provides entrance to Colorado’s state parks without a fee, will not change in price. Colorado residents can purchase the pass for $29 annually while registering their vehicle.
