Colorado’s Wolf Creek Ski Area has seen a huge amount of snowfall given how early it is in the season. Their year-to-date total is at 66 inches, while the most recent storm alone brought them 25 inches. With all that snow, the mountain already has 95% of their terrain open, and more snow is on the way. If meteorologist Chris Tomer is right, Wolf Creek could see a couple more feet before November 21.
Chris Tomer has been in weather consulting for around 20 years, consulting on expeditions around the world and to all fourteen of the world’s 8,000 meter peaks. In his near-daily mountain weather updates, Tomer provides incredibly helpful forecasts for skiers, snowboarders, and other winter recreators across North America.
The next few days (November 12 & 13) aren’t bringing a ton of snow across the west. Parts of Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and Idaho could see around 1-4 inches of snow, with a few locations seeing up to 6 inches. But mid November, from the 14th to the 21st, is set to bring a lot of snow to specific locations.
Wolf Creek, as mentioned, could see up to another 26 inches of snowfall throughout the period, bringing their season total above 90″. Mount Baker, meanwhile, could see 27 inches through the period, and Whistler could get up to 21 inches. The rest of Colorado’s mountains could see around a foot of snow, while the rest of the Rockies are limited to less than a foot.
