Colorado — Here’s an insider ski industry tip: sometimes, it is best not to go skiing on opening day. Does it scratch the skiing itch? Yes, but only if you’re going to a remote mountain and not at one of the first ski resorts to open near a metropolitan area. Opening days can feature limited terrain and lifts, leading to crowded and icy slopes, along with congested lift lines.
Eldora Mountain Resort opened its slopes for the season yesterday, and it was unsurprisingly pretty crowded. YouTuber SRG Skiing shared his experience navigating a crowded slope at Eldora. People were making slow, wide turns, while others stopped completely in the middle of the trail. However, these crowds will likely diminish over the next few weeks as more slopes open up at Eldora and mountains begin operating across Colorado.
