Reaching the world stage level in any sport is incredibly difficult. It requires a lot of time, a lot of money, and a lot of mental fortitude, on top of often requiring a natural gift for the sport. That’s no less true in mountain biking, no matter the discipline. In fact the money problem is even more of a factor in mountain biking than it is in a host of other sports.
Canyon Wilcox began dreaming of competing professionally in mountain biking when he was young. He left a job as an electrician for it, spending a large sum of money and living with little savings while moving from competition to competition. He’s still pursuing a spot on the World Cup, but his dreams have gotten no less clear.
