ALBERTA – The weather at Banff Sunshine Village is starting to look mighty fall-like, with a light dusting of snow appearing on the mountain over the past few days. So it’s a good thing the resort’s new chairlift, Super Angel, is progressing well. Throughout this past week, the lift’s new chairs got a nice upgrade and technicians worked to meticulously splice the the haul rope.
Splicing involves joining the two ends of the massive rope that transports the chairs, creating a continuous loop around the whole system. The weather was rough and the task requires high amounts of precision and expertise, but it was completed without any reported problems. As for the chairs, they now don the Banff Sunshine logo.
Banff Sunshine’s new Super Angel will be a EVO six-passenger heated luxury chairlift, featuring footrests and a yellow bubble cover to protect guests from the elements. The actual replacement process, removing the the thirty-five-year-old Angel Express chairlift, began in May of this year.
The new Super Angel chairlift is scheduled to open for the 2024/25 ski season, while the old Angel Express chairlift will be relocated to Castle Mountain Resort during the 2025/26 ski season. 2024/25 ski passes for Banff Sunshine are on sale now.
