Jackson, New Hampshire — This Saturday, the fate of one of New England’s most historic mountains will be revealed.
Yesterday, the Indy Pass announced that Black Mountain and Erik Morgensen from the Indy Pass will host a community meeting regarding the ski area’s future. The meeting will happen at Black Mountain’s Base Lodge at 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 5th. If you can’t attend, there will be a live stream.
Black Mountain remains one of the largest independent gems in New Hampshire. It opened back in 1935, and going there is a blast from the past. On October 11, 2023, Black Mountain announced that it wouldn’t open that winter, making its future uncertain. One week later, the Indy Pass announced they would help Black Mountain open and operate that season. News from the ski area this summer was minimal.
What does this meeting mean for the future of Black Mountain? I guess we’ll find out on Saturday.
