Two kayakers in Alberta Canada’s Sheep River Provincial Park noticed a moose calf in distress as it floated down the ice cold glacial waters of the Sheep River and snapped into action to save it before it hit a dangerous stretch of rapids.
Benny Clark and Scott Linton beached their kayaks and roped in for this swift water rescue. Once they had the moose in hand, they kept their heads on a swivel looking out for its mother because even through their intentions were good, mother moose a known to attack perceived threats to their offspring.
The pair brought the calf to shore where it walked on shaky legs to the warmth of the sun, hopefully to return to its mother. The men described their actions as a “quick and clean rescue of the cutest Canadian ever.”
“We eyed this female calf moose on a small ledge at the base of a 200′ cliff beside the river. We jumped out of our boats and had this beauty on shore real quick. Hopefully she finds mom wherever she is.”
