Jay, Vermont- Sunday marked the finale for Jay Peak’s 2023-2024 season. Or does Jay Peak have one more in them?
On May 11th & 12th, the Jet Triple spun from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the open runs being Jet, Haynes, and Mont L’Entrepide. As is tradition, there was a solid amount of grass skiing, especially on the Haynes trail. In terms of the Northeast closing dates, Jay skiers show what makes them stand out. Jay Peak put together an extensive photo album for closing day, which can be viewed here.
However, there is one final skiing event planned for this June. On June 22nd, they plan to host an event on snow, which is currently being protected by a haystack. For the Summer Solstice Sessions event, they will have a small terrain park set up, which will be serviced by the Stateside Magic Carpet. Lift tickets will be $50 for one hour and $100 for the full four-hour session.
This is not a new tactic, as mountains like Wild Mountain hold similar events thanks to snow preservation tactics. If we’re being technical, having a lift-serviced park would mean they could be the last to close in the Northeast. We’ll have to wait to see if that snow sticks around under that hay.
