Base Cerro Catedral, San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro, Argentina- One of the up-and-coming ski resorts in South America will be the first to open in the Southern Hemisphere.

Cerro Catedral—Catedral Alta Patagonia announced a pre-opening celebration earlier this week. From today, May 9th, through the 11th, three trails and three lifts will be open. This is thanks to the dump that Bariloche received this week.

However, it should noted that the terrain open will be limited. As shown by the base area trail map below, two open lifts are magic carpets, and the only open chairlift, Princesita, services a small amount of beginner and intermediate terrain.

Still, it’s exciting to see a ski resort open early, even if it’s only for a couple of days.
