COLORADO – Just because it’s late April doesn’t mean we can’t get a healthy snowfall in the mountains of Colorado! There are six ski resort still open in the state, with five sitting in the Front Range area and snow expected at all of them.

Purgatory, located in Southwest Colorado, is ending winter operations on Sunday. While the end of a ski season is always a tragic moment, their final weekend is set to be deep. According to OpenSnow, the resort is predicted to receive 10″ of snowfall tomorrow, with a scattering today (Friday) and around an inch on Sunday. Altogether, Purgatory’s last few days will be filled with around 11″ of new snow.

Things are looking even deeper at Colorado’s Front Range resorts. Arapahoe Basin, who’s closing date is yet to be determined, could receive over 17 inches of new snow between today, April 26, and Sunday, April 28. Their base currently sits at 64″ inches, with all 9 lifts running and 115/144 trails open.

Winter Park, meanwhile, could see a monstrous 21 inches of snowfall between now and Monday, with a total of 15″ predicted to touch down throughout the day on Saturday. The Winter Park side of the mountain is closed, but the party continues at Mary Jane. 6 chairlifts continue to run, while 75 of 171 trails are still open.

Further down I-70, Copper Mountain is looking at a healthy 15″ throughout the weekend, with 12 of 23 lifts still running. At Breckenridge, which currently sits at a base depth of 69 inches, more snow is expected running into Monday, and Loveland is looking at a healthy 10 inches throughout Saturday alone.

Much of this snow could be paired with scattering thunderstorms (that’s right, THUNDERSNOW), so make sure to keep an eye on your chosen resort’s lift status if you plan on heading up I-70 (or down, or around, I don’t know where you live).
