MT. BACHELOR, Oregon – Mt. Bachelor‘s daycare program is now scheduled to run year-round, Central Oregon Daily News reports, creating a new option for those struggling to find affordable child care in the area.

Daycare in town is very difficult to find, especially if you don’t need it every day. And it’s very expensive. So we were able to put something in place that allows them to either pay at a monthly rate, or to pay on a daily rate, at significant discounts.” – President and GM of Mt. Bachelor John Merriman

The daycare previously served mostly guests of the resort, open only during the peak of the winter ski season. Now the daycare will remain open seven days a week, year round, open from 8 a.m. to 3:45 p.m until June 27, and  9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from then on. The new schedule is open for both employees and visitors.

Our child care provider retired at the end of February, so we were very worried. I think we had to reach out to another 20-something people, so being able to have childcare up here was quite the blessing. We started having Aurora come here full time in March. Summer was coming up and we weren’t sure what to do, so now that we’re year-round, she’ll be up here at least three days a week, if not five.” – Mt Bachelor Talent Acquisition Manager Tyler Monzie
