You may think dangerous wildlife encounters in America would be reserved for rural areas but tell that to this dude walking his corgi named Cheddar in Chicago’s South Loop neighborhood who thought he was being pursued by a stray until he realized it was something else entirely. According to the National Park Service, coyotes may view dogs as competition or even prey and you should always keep your dog on a leash when traveling through coyote territory:
