Bretton Woods, New Hampshire— To commemorate the end of its fiftieth season, a New Hampshire ski resort is offering lift tickets for $17.76 and a free gondola ride for this summer.
Bretton Woods, which is situated near the historic Mt. Washington Resort, announced that they’re offering lift tickets for $17.76 on Patriots’ Day (April 15th). This offer includes a free gondola sightseeing ticket for this summer. I’ve done the summer sightseeing ride before and would recommend it, as the mountain has great views of Mt. Washington. Seniors over eighty and children under four can ski for free but aren’t eligible for the free summer gondola ticket offer.
Patriots’ Day is celebrated across New England as the day of the first battles from the Revolutionary War, particularly the battles of Lexington, Concord, and Menotomy. In Boston, the holiday is commemorated by the Boston Marathon and an early matinee Red Sox game.
I hate to be a wiseass (Just kidding; I love to do that), but shouldn’t the lift tickets cost $17.75? All the battles that became part of the Patriots’ Day lore were in 1775, not 1776. That one penny in savings has a lot of value these days! At least they’re offering affordable lift tickets, which is not something that many major ski resorts are doing right now.
Bretton Woods is currently closed to preserve their snowpack, but it will reopen on April 13th for one final weekend of skiing for the 2023-24 season.
