TELLER COUNTY, Colorado – A Colorado equipment operator was nearly caught in an avalanche in Teller County on Sunday, March 17. The operator, who is now totally safe following the slide, was on Teller County Road 88, or Shelf Road, when the slide occurred.

The Teller County OEM and Teller Search & Rescue deployed early this morning down Shelf Road for an avalanche slide that jeopardized the safety and wellbeing for one of Teller’s brave equipment operators. The operator is safe and thankfully gets to go home to his family tonight.” – Teller County Office of Emergency Management

While nobody was harmed in this particular avalanche, the Teller County Office of Emergency Management hopes this can act as a sign to the public, showing them just how dangerous it can be for equipment operators and plow drivers.

Please be patient as we are trying desperately to restore Teller’s roads and access. Shelf Road(CR88) is closed until further notice…we are assisting residents in the valley with supplies.” – Teller County Office of Emergency Management

We’re glad to hear that nobody was seriously injured in this specific incident. Please make sure to give some respect to your local plow drivers, equipment operators and everyone else who puts their lives in danger to protect yours throughout these major storms.
