“One of my jobs in the summertime is to maintain our trail signs. Every year we would throw away a dumpster full of signs and I wanted to come up with a more eco-friendly better looking trail sign.” –Jim Greene

Who’d a thunk the most interesting ski video of the week would be focused on fabricating trail signs?

Super neat story out of Telluride where 28 year veteran ski patroller Jim Greene recognized some deficiencies in the resort’s trail sign designs and decided to reinvent the platform using a more eco-friendly & renewable solid cedar wood. Previous to new wooden signs, Telluride was replacing all 600 trail signs every five years due to deterioration but not anymore. Jim’s signs are not only much more ascetically pleasing but they hold up much better in the rugged conditions on the mountain. Win Win!

Next time your at Telluride take a moment to pull over and appreciate the hard work and craftsmanship that goes into each and every trail sign. Cheers to Jim!
