With major snowfall in the forecast for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, it seems to be an appropriate time to share this video posted back in October 2023 by the Wyoming ski resort.

In the short film Jackson Hole: Teton Flow, the reasons why Jackson Hole receives such light snow are revealed. In the video below, Jim Woodmency from the Mountain Weather website explains how colder temperatures allow Jackson Hole to receive light-density, cold smoke snow from Northwestern and Western flow storms. These ingredients lead to deep powder that’s easy to shred due to its low density. According to Jim, Jackson Hole has the best snow on the planet, although I imagine that meteorologists in Utah would challenge this opinion.

According to OpenSnow, 30″ of powder is expected in the next five days for Jackson Hole. Hopefully, more Teton Flows will be coming throughout this winter.
