Taos Ski Valley had a hectic offseason. Some of the changes include two lifts, new terrain, and the return of the Martini Tree Bar. One of the most exciting changes is the addition of three new trails.

Last week, the locations of these new runs were announced by Taos Ski Valley with the release of their 2023-24 trail map. Two of these runs are located near the new Lift 4, while the other run is near Lift 1. If you’re trying to find them on the maps below, they’re highlighted in white.

Two of these trails, Ponsse Scheme and Cache Stash, are classified as single black diamonds. These two trails had a soft opening last winter and now have officially joined the trail map. These trails are the result of tree cleanup due to a 2021 snow squall wind event. Ponsee Scheme is located right next to the base of Chair 7 and connects to the return trail. Cache Stash is over in the Lift 4 terrain pod and near El Funko.

The new double-black diamond trail, Dadou’s, will be on the looker’s left on the notorious Al’s Run. This is named after beloved Taos ski instructor Bernard “Dadou” Mayer, who passed away in 2022. This glade was created from forest thinning and mitigation with collaboration from the US Forest Service.

Taos revealed the new trails with a fiery video on their social media. Since these trails were created through prescribed burns, you could say that Taos did start the fire…Alright, I’ll see myself out.
