After a busy summer and fall, Sugarbush Resort in Vermont has announced its main project for next offseason.

Yesterday, the Vermont ski resort announced that the Heaven’s Gate Triple will be replaced by a new fixed-grip quad chairlift. The new lift will be slightly realigned to improve its reliability against the wind. In addition, the seats will be slatted so that it will reduce the risk of windholds. Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin during the Spring of 2024, with its opening set for the 2024-25 season.

In terms of this offseason, they’ve made significant improvements across the resort. The Lodge at Lincoln Peak underwent significant renovations, reopening back in July. A new trail was sculpted that realigns the Heaven’s Gate Traverse, providing an easier way to reach Heaven’s Gate Triple, including snowmaking. Lincoln Peak also saw snowmaking improvements like “a new weir at the Lincoln Peak Snowmaking Pond, and overhauling snowmaking pipe and guns on Easy Rider and Pushover among others.” Snowmaking improvements were made to the Northstar, Inverness, and the Summit Quad area over at Mt. Ellen.

Lodge renovations are happening throughout the ski resort, as the Glen House at Mt. Ellen is receiving “new furniture, paint, carpet, bathroom upgrades, and [is] opening the downstairs as additional seating for the restaurant.” Lincoln Peak is getting a new container bar and a dining space for seasonal program guests is being added to the Valley House Lodge. They are also working on two workforce housing projects, which could start construction by the end of this year. The Sugarbush Health & Recreation Center is adding new sports simulators, replacing the racquetball courts.

These projects are a combined investment of $12.6 million. Click here to read Sugarbush’s press release.
