A new run is coming to one of Vermont’s most popular ski resorts.

The new trail is shaded with red polka dots.

Sugarbush Resort shared an offseason project update on Monday. In the video down below, the Vermont ski resort shows the completed trail. Rather than go with the Reverse Traverse name, they’ve changed the whole run to Heaven’s Gate Traverse trail due to it directly connecting to Heaven’s Gate chairlift. The new Heaven’s Gate Traverse trail gives riders a direct route from the Valley House Quad to the Heaven’s Gate Triple chairlift and is also equipped with snowmaking, giving Sugarbush more trails to open during the early season. The previous Reverse Traverse trail didn’t have snowmaking on it and was a more difficult trek to reach the Heaven’s Gate Triple. The old trail will be abandoned and left to revegetation.

This new trail paves the way for a new chairlift that could be coming next season. Last year, Sugarbush received U.S. Forest Service approval to replace the Heaven’s Gate triple chairlift with a new fixed-grip quad chairlift. Another lift replacement, most likely to the North Ridge Express, could be coming in 2025.

Another major project that Sugarbush is working on this offseason is the renovation of The Lodge at Lincoln Peak. You can read more about that project here.

Correction 8/2: We originally listed the run as the new Reverse Traverse trail. Sugarbush clarified on Wednesday that this new run is an extension of the Heaven’s Gate Traverse, and we have updated this post to reflect that.
