It’s no secret that lift tickets are only getting more outrageous in price each year, but Purgatory Resort seeks to change that. The non-mega pass resort just outside of Durango, CO has started selling lift tickets for the upcoming season, and the prices are shockingly cheap. Many day tickets are as low as $29 for non-peak months, with peak months prices as low as $40 a day. By comparison, lift tickets for the neighboring Telluride start at $165 for non-peak months and quickly hit over $200 for peak days.

These prices are even more impressive when you remember that Purgatory isn’t a little Midwestern hill. Purgatory features 1,650 skiable acres and 12 lifts, making it close in size to popular Colorado destinations like Arapahoe Basin and Beaver Creek (before the recent expansion). If you are looking to take a trip to the Rockies on the cheap and don’t want to sell your soul to Vail Resorts or Alterra (like I did), consider making your way to Purgatory.
