Beaver Creek Resort in Colorado opened up their McCoy Park terrain on Monday for the first time ever. Consisting of mostly beginner terrain and a few intermediate runs, the area gives space for newcomers to learn to shred wide-open spaces. Two new quad chairlifts are a part of this terrain pod: The McCoy Park Express and the Reunion Lift (connecting the bottom of McCoy to the top of the Strawberry Peak Express Lift and Upper Beaver Creek Mountain Express). According to Vail Daily, the terrain pod mimics “the setting of advanced trails, granting guests of all ski levels a chance to explore more of the mountain on [the] terrain they are comfortable skiing and snowboarding.” Photos and videos from the mountain’s opening day are below.
The Grand Opening of McCoy Park was a day to remember! Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating the opening of our new terrain, and look forward to seeing you out on the slopes! #MyMcCoy #McCoyMonday pic.twitter.com/FpDaOwnu7g

This video report from Sean Naylor of Vail Daily shows what the terrain is like with some fresh powder sprinkled in. The terrain looks very flat, but this is ideal for a beginner learning area. It does also look like a good area to scavenge for fresh powder and groomed tracks later in the day.
