The sixth ski hill was the charm for Terrace, British Columbia. Prior to the opening of Shames Mountain, five ski hills failed to be successful in the city. The fifth hill was Kitsumkalum, which operated from 1973 to 1986, and became known for its steep terrain.

In Skier72’s latest episode of The Lost Resorts, he covered the history of lift-serviced skiing in the town of Terrace, focusing specifically on Kitsumkalum. The video covers prior ski hills in Terrace before Kitsumkalum, the building of the ski area, its terrain expansion, what led to its decline, and the topography of the mountain.

The short documentary is below. In 2021, Skier72 also released a video detailing the lost ski resorts of Western Canada, which you can watch here.
