Back in October, Andes Tower Hills in Minnesota was nearly the first ski area in the United States to open for the 2022-23 season. They were narrowly beaten by Wild Mountain, but opening on October 18th is no easy feat. They wrapped off their regular season on April 15th, but have decided to spin their magic carpet lift one last time.

Last week, they announced that they’re going to reopen today, May 1st, with multiple lifts. Since then, they’ve seen warm weather and gusty winds, leading to lots of snowmelt. They still have a bunch of snow in the base, so they will try and push it up just before reopening today. Andes Tower Hills is planning to run the magic carpet from 4-7 p.m. They described conditions as a 1-2 out of 10.

Tickets are free, but they want riders to sign a waiver before heading up the carpet. For more information, you can watch the Andes Tower Hills video below.
