Snowbird Resort has become the latest Utah ski resort to break its all-time snowfall record. Yesterday, Snowbird announced that they had reached 785 inches of snow, which broke their all-time record. The previous record was 783″, which was set during the 2010-11 season. Since then, more snow has fallen, with them surpassing 800″. As of Wednesday morning, their season total is at 805″, thanks to 54 inches of snow in the last 48 hours.

“Good Morning,
This is Mason with your Mountain Report for Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Not only did we pass our all-time season total snowfall of 783”, we just passed 800”! You read that right; we are officially a part of the 800” club! This April storm has brought us nearly 60” of new snow in just a few days. This is great for the snowpack but makes things a little tricky to get the resort up and running. Please be patient while ski patrol is out getting the mountain ready for all of us to enjoy.
The forecast is calling for mostly cloudy with a high near 23. The winds will be coming out of the west at around 10 mph. It is still currently snowing, but that should taper off by early afternoon. We can expect a few more inches of snow by then. This is one of those storms I will be talking about for years to come. Be safe, have fun, and enjoy all this fresh snow!”
Snowbird is in the midst of a long interlodge period, and SR-210, which services Little Cottonwood Canyon, remains closed. Both SR-190 (Big Cottonwood Canyon) and SR-210 will not open today.
The weather does clear out after today, so some quality powder and spring skiing are ahead for the Bird. Snowbird is expected to remain open through the end of May at least, with the possibility of July 4th skiing within reach.
