Tragic news out of Pole Canyon, Utah where search crews found the body of snowmobiler who was caught by an avalanche buried under 22 feet of snow.
KSL reports the victim has been identified as 38-year-old Brett Howard Warner from Highland, Utah. He had been snowmobiling in the Lewiston Peak peak area Monday when the avalanche was triggered. The avalanche broke at the top of the mountain and slide approximately 1,000-1,500 feet.
“They had come down and were going back up when the avalanche started, and one of them was able to turn off to his right and avoid it and the other one got caught up in it.” –Sgt. Spencer Cannon, Utah County Sheriff’s Office
Search crews found Warner’s body Monday evening buried under 22 feet of snow. The Utah Avalanche Center said Warner was wearing a beacon and had deployed an avalanche airbag, which was deflated when he was found.
